Answers for Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you send books to?

We send to families of overseas workers without access to books and to schools or other ministries associated with them.

Where do the books come from?

People who have heard about BookEnds have donated literally thousands of books to be distributed world-wide. We also look for bargains on particularly desired books at thrift stores and garage sales.

How many boxes can I order?

In order to have an impact on the most families, we ask that you request up to four boxes per year, split into two orders. Let us know if you need more than this: we may be able to accomodate you.

What are the shipping options?

We send via Media Mail if you have a US zip code, US Postal Service International flat rate, or sea-borne shipping (boat) to certain countries. You can also drop by and pick up books in person if you're in Santa Barbara.

What does it cost?

If shipment is via Media Mail, you pay the entire cost, which is typically about 30 cents per book. BookEnds subsidizes a portion (typically half) of the cost of international shipping, because the cost is much higher - about $115 per box that fits about 25 books. This subsidy is made possibly by generous individuals have contributed toward this cost. See table below

Do I have to send the books back when I'm done with them?

No, we expect that you will find good homes for the books wherever you are when it comes time to part with them.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept reimbursement via Paypal, Zelle, or Check (from a bank in the US).
